First I started with a yellow plate, not quite school bus yellow but, close! Then I added a wicker charger for texture and topped it off with a composition notebook. Do the kids even use these anymore? Probably not. The adorable back to school cookie I found at Plum Market, a local specialty grocery store but, of course, they only had one. Darn. I also got the sunflowers and the vintage bottles of Coke there. I love sunflowers but they are so hard to arrange. Their heads are so heavy they just droop and then you can't see their pretty faces!
The "napkin rings" I made from pieces of "writing strips" I found at the Dollar Tree. The red handled flatware I found at Target for $8.00 for a set of 12. They tie in with the yellow and red theme. Yellow for the school bus and red for the blinking lights!
I found the "runner" at Dollar Tree. Actually it is a rug but I thought it looks like the yellow lines on the road. The orange is just for show!
Saturday I found the school bus at Salvation Army for .99 cents. It was just what I was looking for to complete my theme and the price was right!
Another look at the completed tablescape. I will be joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Thanks for stopping by!
Way to take an inspiration and make it your own! You found just the right components at just the right time. Did you actually get the chance to serve on it? Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay

ReplyDeleteVery cute. The extras made it special!! I have been meaning to do a 'back to school' table, but keep putting it off. Now I've been back to school for three weeks! I might be too late! Glad someone got it done. Lori L

I love this! Very cute ideas that I would never have thought of!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute table!
ReplyDeleteJust darling! So clever! I especially love the napkin rings.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors you used - so bright and pretty. And yes, I DO think that kids still do use those "marble copybooks" (I think that's what my neighborhood called them years ago!). Check out my blog when you have time... I, too, have a post about "Time to go back to School" but I was more about reminiscing! I miss the new school supplies :)
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
Gloria
