A Accidental Knock Off

I found this really cute idea to camouflage the side of the refrigerator. When I sit at the end of the sofa to watch TV I can see the side of the fridge. It has bothered me for years....18 to be exact....but I never knew what to do about it until......

I saw this on from Gardeners to Burgers blog. Isn't is awesome?

So last Sunday I set out to find frames and a bulletin board. First to one thrift store. No luck. On to the reuse center. BINGO. I found a large frame and a bulletin board with a wood frame that fit in the larger frame. Perfect. As usual I forgot to take before pictures.  Here are some after I started.

I wish I would remember to take before pictures. I am in such a hurry to get started I always forget! The larger frame was empty. Imagine a yucky orangish oak color frame. This one has some raised trim. I didn't paint that solid white. I let some of the black exposed. The frame for the bulletin also received three coats of white paint. I am in a rush to get started with my projects so I rarely never prime. Just a extra coat of paint.

So after three coats of paint this is what I have.....

Then while looking, wishing and hoping at Ballard Designs I found this......
Can you believe it? The medium size board is $109.00. What??!! I think my supplies were less than $10.00.

This is the finished look. I still have to buy some industrial strength velcro.

This bulletin board has a chunk missing. After I assembled all the pieces I remember I had a really cheap board at work. So I brought it home cut the cork down to fit and now no more chip. YAY!

I am very happy how my project turned out and it only took me an afternoon......mostly waiting for paint to dry!  I will be joining SNS at Funky Junk Interiors. Thanks for stopping by!
