Before and After

We have had this fireplace for several years. I bought it from QVC as our joint Christmas gift. I really liked it when we bought it. Now, not so much. It uses some type of canned gel fuel that stinks and gives me a terrible headache. First I thought I would try to sell it on Craigslist or a yard sale. Yeah, that doesn't always work out. Usually, somebody wants for a fraction of what you bought it for or what you are trying to sell in for.

After I saw a blog (now I can't remember the name!) with a fireplace in her work room I thought OK I will take it upstairs (how I got it upstairs by myself is another story) and paint it white.

Before
I removed all the hardware, firebox, screen etc. then I started painting.

After 2 coats.

Then I really started to like it again! I don't have a garage or anyplace to do my painting so usually I just take the piece to the room it is going in and do the best I can to make a big mess not make a big mess!

Finished! Sparky's butt is always in the picture...he refuses to move!  I liked it so much I decided to take is back downstairs. As if up the stairs wasn't enough!

I am glad I didn't sell it! I added some dollar tree battery operated candles. The chair was my birthday gift a few years ago. I found it at Home Goods.

That was how I spent my Saturday. I will be joining Susan for Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch, Marty at a Stroll Thru Life and Maryann at Domestically Speaking for Power of Paint. Click the buttons on my sidebar to check out the fabulous ideas posted. Thanks for stopping by.
