In Loving Memory......Alan Johnston April 18, 1937 - May 4, 2009

It has been one year since my husband passed away. I thought I would share this mosaic I made a while ago. In my grief support group we were talking about how hard it is to remember how our loved ones looked before they were sick. I decided to make this mosaic to remind me.

As for me, I am doing well. I still have bad days but, not as frequently as I used to. Grief is a process and is different for everyone. Now starts the next chapter of my life.

Starting at the top left: Alan and his brothers, family Christmas Card 1938. Alan with his mother on board the Queen Elizabeth I. Alan jogging through a puddle. Alan and me at my Aunt's birthday party 1992.
Our picture taken for the church directory, 1998. Center picture I scanned from the smaller one of the three brothers. Isn't he a cutie?!  Alan pretending to "preach" at church after we decorated the large trees. The rest are pictures from our very small wedding. The last picture is a stone at the entrance to the memorial garden where we had our pictures taken. I will be joining Mosaic Monday at Little Red House. Click on the link to take a look. Thanks for looking at my mosaic.

  3. Hi, My heart goes out to you. I lost my mother 2 years ago and I miss her so, you're right, the grieving process is a long one and something that we all have to go through and adjust our hearts and minds to. This is a very touching post and such a wonderful mosaic. Thank you so much for sharing this today. I hope that you have a lovely new week!
    Hugs...

  5. The mosaic is beautiful...I think you're doing just great. I went through this in 1993 but it is still just below the surface...My Mom always told me that "It doesn't get better, it gets further away." It was so true...This is a new life for you, enjoy it!!!
