A Vintage Inspired Table

This tablescape was inspired by the fabric. It isn't a tablecloth....too small, or a table runner....too wide. I don't know exactly what it is. One side is the selvage edge and the other three are turned under and stitched. At first I thought I would make a apron but, I don't really wear aprons. Then I decided I would use it as a table runner. The next step was to find dishes. I thought I wanted brown dishes but, when I saw these at Salvation Army everything just clicked. They are Nova Designs but, they are not vintage as they are dishwasher and microwave safe.  The set consists of eight dinner plates, seven salad plates and eight bowls. And the price? $19.99. Twenty four pieces: less than a dollar a piece. Now we're talking!

The vase I found on another shopping trip to Salvation Army. I added my vintage box cameras.
Here you can get an idea of the pattern on the runner. The wine glasses I found at Salvation Army last year. My everyday Dansk flatware completes the setting.
As usual they only had one brown and tan napkin. I purchased the salt and pepper shakers when I found the dishes.
A final look at the whole setting. I will be joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Click on the link to go to her site. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Your fabric was the perfect inspiration piece for your table. I love Dansk flatware. I used to have Variation V....sadly it was carried off on hunting trips, etc, on piece at a time. I keep thinking that I'll replace it...some day. I love the aqua and chocolate brown. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
